It is with very heavy hearts that we have taken the decision to close Rothay Manor until further notice.

On the basis of the unprecedented circumstances we are all living in at present, as well as Government and NHS advice, this was the only possible decision which could be reached with the health and safety of all people the absolute priority. This decision was not made lightly but has been made with the interests of our guests, colleagues and the wider Ambleside community at heart.

We will of course be contacting all of our guests that have a booking with us, but please bear with us while we work through this.

If you would like to get in touch with us please send us an email at which we will respond to as quickly as we can.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our hard-working team, who were prepared to do all that they could to ensure that Rothay Manor survived this pandemic, and our utmost gratitude goes to our government who are certainly going above and beyond to help the hospitality industry in this very difficult time.

We ask all of our guests to be safe during this time, and to heed government guidelines as best as you can.

We are working in line with government advice and as such will be cancelling all bookings up to the date of 30th April 2020. We will update this, following any advice that the government may provide over the coming weeks.

Please note, if you have paid a deposit this can be moved to a future date (the stay must be before 30th April 2021).

For all non-refundable bookings, and those who have paid in advance, we are happy to transfer all monies paid towards a future booking (the stay must be before the 30th April 2021). We will, of course, offer the best available rate at that time.

If you require any further information or help, please call reception on 01539 433605 or email

Thank you for your understanding, patience and generosity.

We look forwards to seeing you on the other side...stay safe

Jamie, Jenna & the Rothay Manor team
